Optinet Systems joined the SPG group in August 2020, acquired via Isithimela ICT Company (Pty) Ltd. SPG holds a 57% stake. The acquisition added a specialist rail-telecoms capability to the portfolio — a natural extension of SPG's Gautrain exposure and a platform for expansion into other rail networks in Southern Africa.
Leadership
Optinet is led by Carl Weber (Chief Executive Officer) and Malcolm Smith, with a technical team carrying decades of combined rail-telecoms experience.
