Isithimela Facilities Services was incorporated in 2010 to deliver the station and depot cleaning contract that keeps the Gautrain up to the operator's standards. Five head-office staff run the contract; one hundred and ninety site-based team members deliver the work every day.
Leadership
The company is managed by Luvuyo Siswana, with a site-supervisor structure reporting into him. The contract with the Bombela Operating Company runs on a three-year renewal cycle and has been successfully renegotiated on performance since inception.
Scope
Isithimela covers the full facilities-services stack: platform and concourse cleaning; restroom maintenance; office cleaning at the Gautrain head office and depot; waste management; periodic deep-cleaning and pressure washing on the exterior envelope.
People
The workforce is drawn predominantly from communities along the Gautrain line — a deliberate hiring policy that keeps wages flowing into the neighbourhoods the network serves, not just through.
