Who we are

Strategic Partners Group (Pty) Ltd is a broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) investment holding company. We were established in 2002 when twelve shareholder groupings — spanning business associations, community trusts, and individuals from previously disadvantaged backgrounds — joined forces to compete for, and win, a stake in the country's major infrastructure projects.

Two decades on, SPG is best known for our role as the empowerment partner in the Gautrain Rapid Rail concession — and for the operational companies that grew from that platform: construction, facilities management, advertising, security, and rail telecoms.

We are a South African business, headquartered in Sandton, with operations offices in Midrand and project-based staff on every Gautrain station and depot in Gauteng.

Mission

To identify and invest in opportunities that generate sustainable returns for shareholders, while measurably advancing the economic participation of historically disadvantaged South Africans.

Vision

To be the pre-eminent South African based diversified investment group — recognised for the quality of our partnerships and the substance of our transformation impact.
Shareholder profile

A deliberately broad base.

The twelve founding shareholders were chosen to reflect the geographic, demographic, and sectoral breadth of South Africa's previously disadvantaged communities — not a narrow elite.

Shareholders include community-based trusts, women's business associations, youth groupings, labour-linked investment vehicles, and individual professionals with track records in the sectors SPG invests in. Voting rights and economic participation are structured to keep the base broad, not to consolidate control over time.
